How it works
Calculate the tiles and boxes needed for a wall, including 10% waste.
Enter the wall length and height in feet, the tile dimensions in inches, and tiles per box. The calculator counts tiles, applies 10% waste, and converts to boxes.
Formula
Tiles = wall area (ft²) ÷ (tile length × tile width ÷ 144); boxes = tiles (with waste) ÷ tiles per box.
A- Wall area (ft²)
l- Tile length (in)
w- Tile width (in)
Examples

Frequently asked questions
Why round boxes up?
Boxes are sold whole. Rounding up (with waste) ensures you do not run short mid-project.
Should I remove windows and doors?
Yes — subtract any openings for a more accurate count. This calculator assumes a solid wall.
How to read the result
Box count applies 10% waste before dividing by the box size, so you order whole boxes that cover cuts and breakage.
Limitations
Assumes a rectangular wall with no openings, uniform tiles, and no decorative pattern that changes coverage.
