Everyday

Everyday tools are the small, frequent calculations that do not fit anywhere else: splitting a bill with a tip, and generating a password with a chosen length and character mix.

One handles money between people, the other handles randomness for an account — both are quick utilities rather than analytical models.

Which everyday calculator do you need?

  • Work out a tip amount, the total bill and the per-person share for a group.

  • Generate a random password of a chosen length with the character classes you select.

Tipping and splitting a bill

A tip is a percentage of the bill, and splitting simply divides the total including the tip by the number of people. Decide first whether you want to tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount — customs and expectations differ by country and by service.

For uneven groups, one fair approach is to split the bill proportionally and then add an equal share of the tip, rather than trying to reconcile individual items at the table.

What makes a password strong

Length and character variety both increase the number of possible combinations an attacker has to search. A long passphrase of random words can be stronger than a short string of symbols, and reusing a password across accounts turns one breach into many.

The generator uses the browser's secure random source and does not save or transmit the result, so store the password in a password manager immediately after generating it.

Practical notes

  • Tipping expectations vary by country and service type; the calculator applies whatever percentage you choose.
  • Generated passwords are shown once and never stored — keep them in a password manager.
  • Never reuse a password across accounts, and never use a generator built on non-secure randomness for real accounts.
