How it works
Project how your current savings and monthly contributions could grow by retirement age.
Enter your current and retirement ages, current savings, monthly contribution, and expected annual return. The calculator compounds your savings and contributions from now until retirement.
Formula
FV = P(1 + r)^n + C × ((1 + r)^n − 1) / r, where n = (retirement age − current age) × 12.
P- Current savings (currency)
C- Monthly contribution (currency)
r- Rate per period (annual % / 12) (ratio)
n- Months until retirement (months)
Examples
- Age 40 to 65 with 20,000 savedCurrent age 40 · retirement age 65 · 20,000 saved · 500/month · 6% returnBalance at retirement ≈ 435,796.38 · contributions 170,000 · growth ≈ 265,796.38
Frequently asked questions
Does this predict my actual pension?
No. It is a projection based on constant assumptions. Employer contributions, taxes, and pension rules are not included.
Should I include inflation?
This uses a nominal return. For a real return, reduce your expected annual return by your inflation assumption.
How to read the result
The balance at retirement is a hypothetical total. Investment growth is the amount above your own contributions.
Limitations
Constant return assumed; no inflation, taxes, fees, employer matching, or withdrawals. Results are illustrative, not financial advice.
