How it works
Convert between major currencies using the latest available reference rates — with the rate date and source shown.
Choose the amount and the two currencies. The server fetches reference rates from a public provider, caches them, and shows the rate used together with its date and a freshness status. If the provider is unavailable, the most recent cached rate is used and clearly labelled as cached; if no trustworthy rate exists at all, the calculator shows an explicit message instead of a number. Rates are never fabricated and a same-currency conversion is a plain identity.
Formula
converted amount = amount × rate(base → quote); the rate is the provider's reference rate for one unit of the base currency.
amount- Amount in the source currency (currency)
rate- Reference rate from the source to the target currency (quote per base)
Examples
- 100 USD to EURAmount 100 · from USD · to EURConverted amount = 100 × the displayed USD→EUR rate; the rate date and source are shown with the result.
Frequently asked questions
Which rates do you use?
Public reference rates (European Central Bank reference data via frankfurter.dev). They are indicative reference rates, not bank or card rates.
Why do you not say 'live'?
Reference rates are published on business days and we show the actual rate date. Saying 'live' would overstate the freshness; the status tells you whether the rate is the latest available or a cached copy.
What happens when the provider is unreachable?
A recently cached rate is served and labelled as cached (may be outdated). If no trustworthy rate is available, the calculator shows an explicit unavailable message and no number — it never silently uses a 1:1 rate.
Are fees included?
No. Banks, cards and exchanges add their own margin and fees on top of reference rates.
How to read the result
The converted amount is the reference-rate equivalent. Always check the rate date: a rate from a previous business day can differ from the rate you will actually get in a transaction.
Limitations
Reference rates only; no transaction spread, fees or taxes. Not financial advice.
