How it works
Compute tax owed on income under a progressive (marginal) bracket schedule you provide.
Enter your annual taxable income plus the bracket thresholds and marginal rates. The calculator applies each rate to the slice of income in that bracket and reports the tax, effective rate, and after-tax income.
Formula
Tax = Σ rateᵢ × (income in bracket i); effective rate = tax ÷ income × 100.

Examples
- Illustrative brackets (not a real country)Income 60,000 · thresholds 11,000, 44,725, 95,375 · rates 10, 12, 22, 24Tax ≈ 8,507.50 · effective ≈ 14.2% · after-tax ≈ 51,492.50
Frequently asked questions
Why do I enter my own brackets?
Tax brackets change yearly and differ by country. Entering them keeps the result accurate instead of hard-coding stale rules.
What are marginal rates?
Each rate applies only to the income within its bracket, not your entire income — which is why the effective rate is lower than the top marginal rate.
How to read the result
Only the income above each threshold is taxed at the higher rate; the effective rate averages tax over all income.
Limitations
No standard deductions, credits, or filing-status adjustments. The schedule you enter must already reflect those.
