How it works
Raise a base to an exponent (power/indices).
Enter a base and an exponent. The calculator returns base raised to the exponent.
Formula
result = base^exponent.
b- Base (number)
n- Exponent (number)
Examples
- 2 to the 10th powerBase 2 · exponent 101024
Frequently asked questions
Can the base be negative?
Only with a whole-number exponent (e.g. (−2)³ = −8). A fractional exponent of a negative base is not a real number.
What is a negative exponent?
A negative exponent means a reciprocal: 2^−3 = 1/8.
How to read the result
The result grows or shrinks exponentially with the exponent; 0^0 is defined as 1.
Limitations
Real base/exponents only; very large results may exceed display precision.
