How it works
Calculate the elapsed hours and minutes between two times of day, including overnight.
Enter a start and end time in 24-hour format. The calculator returns the duration; if the end time is earlier than the start, it assumes the shift crosses midnight.
Formula
Minutes = (end − start) mod 1440, where both are minutes from midnight.

Frequently asked questions
What if the times are equal?
Identical start and end times are treated as 0 hours. Use the time-calculator to express a full 24-hour duration.
Does it support minutes?
Yes — enter both hour and minute parts; results include a minutes remainder.
How to read the result
This is a clock-based duration tool, distinct from the time-calculator (which adds/subtracts durations) and business-days (which counts calendar days).
Limitations
Times of day only, in whole minutes, with 24-hour clock semantics. It does not convert time zones.
