How it works
Add or subtract two time durations and get the result in hours and minutes.
Enter two durations as hours and minutes, choose add or subtract, and the calculator returns the result in total minutes plus hours and minutes.
Formula
Total minutes = (h1 × 60 + m1) ± (h2 × 60 + m2).
h1/m1- First duration (hours/minutes)
h2/m2- Second duration (hours/minutes)
Examples
- 2h 45m + 1h 30mHours 2 · minutes 45 · add · hours 1 · minutes 30255 total minutes · 4 hours 15 minutes
Frequently asked questions
Does it convert between 24-hour clock times?
No. This treats inputs as durations. For clock arithmetic, convert start/end times to durations manually.
What happens if subtraction goes negative?
The result is reported with the hour part signed and the minutes part positive, e.g. −0h 30m.
How to read the result
Total minutes is the exact duration; hours + minutes is the human-readable breakdown.
Limitations
Durations only, with whole minutes and non-negative inputs. It does not handle dates or time zones.
