How it works
See what score you need on the final exam to reach your target grade.
Enter your current grade, your target grade, and the final exam's weight. The calculator solves for the final score that reaches the target.
Formula
Required final = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w, where w = final weight ÷ 100.
C- Current grade (%)
T- Target grade (%)
w- Final exam weight (fraction) (0–1)
Examples
- Current 75, target 80, final worth 30%Current grade 75 · target 80 · final weight 30%Required final ≈ 91.67%
Frequently asked questions
What if the required score is over 100?
The target is not reachable at that weight — you would need more than the maximum score on the final.
What if the result is negative?
Your current grade already meets the target, so no particular final score is needed.
How to read the result
A required score above 100 means the target is out of reach; below 0 means it is already met.
Limitations
Assumes the final's contribution is exactly the stated weight and nothing else changes. Extra credit or resubmissions are not modeled.
