How it works
Compute a weighted average grade from scores and weights, plus the matching letter grade.
Enter your scores and their weights as comma-separated lists. The calculator multiplies each score by its weight, divides by the total weight, and maps the result to a letter grade.
Formula
Weighted average = Σ(gradeᵢ × weightᵢ) ÷ Σ(weightᵢ).
gᵢ- Grade for component i (%)
wᵢ- Weight for component i (relative)
Examples
- Three weighted componentsGrades 85, 90, 78 · weights 30, 40, 30Weighted average 84.9% · letter grade B
Frequently asked questions
Do weights need to total 100?
No. Weights are relative — the calculator normalizes them, so 3, 4, 3 gives the same result as 30, 40, 30.
What letter grade scale is used?
The standard US scale: A ≥ 90, B ≥ 80, C ≥ 70, D ≥ 60, below 60 is F.
How to read the result
The weighted average treats higher-weighted components as more important. The letter grade is a convenience summary, not an official transcript.
Limitations
Uses a single US letter-grade scale. Your school may curve grades, use plus/minus, or weight differently — follow its published policy.
