How it works
Compute the minimum, quartiles, median, maximum, and IQR of a list of numbers.
Enter a comma- or space-separated list of numbers. The calculator sorts them and reports the minimum, Q1, median, Q3, maximum, and inter-quartile range.
Formula
Median of each half (Tukey method); IQR = Q3 − Q1.
Q1- First quartile (25th percentile)
Q2- Median (50th percentile)
Q3- Third quartile (75th percentile)
IQR- Inter-quartile range
Examples
- 1 through 81, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8Q1 2.5 · median 4.5 · Q3 6.5 · IQR 4
Frequently asked questions
Which quartile method is used?
The Tukey arithmetic method: the median of the lower half and upper half (excluding the overall median for odd counts).
What does the IQR tell me?
The IQR is the spread of the middle 50% of the data and is robust to outliers.
How to read the result
Quartiles divide a sorted dataset into four equal parts and summarize its spread.
Limitations
Single list of at least 2 numbers; no grouped/frequency data.
